Description
The VM7584K2 is a 4-port 10G optical HDMI input board designed for modular ATEN VM series matrix switches. It accepts SFP+ fiber modules to extend uncompressed HDMI signals over duplex single-mode fiber for long-distance transmission. This board enables integration of remote HDMI sources into large-scale AV matrices while preserving high video fidelity.
Key features include four bi-directional SFP+ input channels, support for 4K resolution at 60Hz (4:2:0), HDCP 2.2 compatibility, and Consumer Electronics Control. The board supports bi-directional RS-232 and IR channels to carry control data alongside audio and video. It uses fiber optics to provide interference-free transmission and simplified cabling.
Technically, the VM7584K2 supports a data rate up to 10.2 Gbps for video and a fiber optics data rate of 10.3 Gbps. Pixel clock capability reaches 340 MHz and the board conforms to HDMI specifications including 3D and Deep Color. The supported maximum resolutions include 4096 x 2160 and 3840 x 2160 with 4K60(4:2:0) performance and 4K30(4:4:4) when applicable.
Connectivity includes four bi-directional SFP+ LC ports for fiber modules, four captive-screw RS-232 connectors, and four mini stereo IR jacks. The VM7584K2 is compatible with ATEN VM3250, VM3200, and VM1600A modular matrix frames and mixes with other modular I/O boards. It requires compatible SFP+ modules and is intended to be used with ATEN optical transceivers such as the VE883AT for full feature support.
Typical applications include digital signage backbones, control room input aggregation, and distributed AV systems in education or corporate facilities. The optical input board is suited for long-reach links up to 10 km over single-mode fiber and for deployments that require consolidated AV and control signal transport. It is also applicable in broadcast contribution links and multi-room AV systems where distance and signal integrity are critical.
Installation is simplified by hot-swappable modular design that supports field replacement and reconfiguration without system downtime. The metal housing provides rack-grade durability and the board includes LED indicators for status and link activity. System integrators benefit from EDID management and HDCP 2.2 compliance to ensure predictable display behavior and secure content transmission.
