Description
The RX-500 is an HDBaseT 2.0 receiver designed to extend 4K video, USB 2.0 data, audio and control signals over a single CAT cable – enabling remote display and peripheral connectivity in meeting rooms and AV installations. It accepts UHD HDR sources and delivers HDMI output plus analog audio de-embed and passthrough options. The unit supports PoH to power compatible transmitters and passes bidirectional RS-232 for device control.
Key features include HDBaseT Class C video delivery, USB 2.0 pass-through with four device ports and a maximum uplink of 190Mbps, audio de-embed plus analog passthrough, and HDCP 2.2 support. The receiver supports 4K60 4:2:0 content and HDR formats including HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision at supported frame rates. End-to-end latency is negligible at 10 microseconds, making it suitable for interactive applications.
Performance-wise the RX-500 handles 3840x2160p@60Hz 8-bit 4:2:0 and 3840x2160p@30Hz 10-bit HDR 4:2:0, with a maximum pixel clock of 297MHz and an encoding data rate of 10.2Gbps. Audio is passed as 2ch analog/PCM on the de-embed outputs while HDMI can carry multichannel LPCM up to DTS:X and Dolby Atmos. The HDBaseT link extends 2160p 4:2:0 60Hz HDR content up to 35m/115ft over shielded CAT cable under HDBaseT Class C conditions.
Connectivity includes an 8-pin RJ45 HDBaseT input, HDMI output, four Type-A USB device ports, RS-232 3-pin phoenix, and two 3.5mm analog audio outputs for de-embedded or passed line audio. The USB hub supports up to seven devices and 23 endpoints, enabling HID devices, webcams and USB storage at up to 190Mbps uplink. HDCP 2.2, EDID and CEC pass-through ensure broad source and display compatibility, and DVI/DP++ signals are supported via adapters where applicable.
Typical applications include huddle rooms, conference rooms and presentation systems where a remote source and interactive peripherals are required. The RX-500 pairs with WyreStorm transmitters such as the SW-130-TX and SW-510-TX to deliver presentations, videoconferencing and USB peripheral sharing across a single cable. It is suited to installations requiring audio extraction, KVM-style HID extension, and reliable control passthrough.
Installation is straightforward with a compact metal chassis, included mounting brackets and universal power supply options. Setup follows standard AV workflows using EDID and HDCP management, and PoH simplifies wiring by powering compatible transmitters from the receiver. The RX-500’s construction and tested HDBaseT compliance provide a dependable solution for professional AV deployments.
