Description
The EXT3-UE-R is a USB 2.0 over CAT receiver designed to convert an extended-reach CAT link into local USB 2.0, Ethernet, RS-232 and analog audio connections. It enables remote USB host connectivity to local USB peripherals using interrupt, bulk or isochronous USB 2.0 data transfer modes. The receiver supports bidirectional data and control for integrated devices.
The receiver provides plug-and-play USB extension with support for USB-A and USB-C peripherals and integrated USB hub functionality. It extends LAN data, RS-232 serial control and analog audio over a single twisted-pair CAT cable – simplifying cabling and reducing installation cost. Local LEDs and embedded web pages provide easy diagnostics and remote management.
Performance is tailored for USB 2.0 class devices with up to 480 Mbps nominal USB data rate and a transmitted data bandwidth up to 300 Mbps over the CAT link. Ethernet extension supports up to 100 Mbps and RS-232 operates at a 9600 baud rate. The unit supports USB device charging with up to 2A when powered locally and PoC charging at reduced current when powered via the transmitter.
Connectivity includes one CAT RJ-45 input, three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, one PoE-accepting Ethernet RJ-45, one stereo balanced audio terminal, RS-232 and GPIO terminal blocks. The receiver is compatible with a wide variety of USB peripherals including cameras, touchscreens, storage devices and HID devices. It follows USB 2.0 and 1.1 standards for broad device compatibility.
Typical applications include room camera and soundbar extension in conference spaces, upgrading meeting rooms to hybrid setups, and USB 2.0 extension for education, corporate, manufacturing and medical environments. The receiver supports remote IP-driven control of USB peripherals such as PTZ cameras and soundbars. Its single-cable signal and power approach reduces installation time in distributed AV systems.
The EXT3-UE-R comes in a compact aluminum TOOLS enclosure with convection ventilation for fan-less operation. It supports mounting behind devices or grouped side-by-side in 1U rack space using the recommended adapter. Installation is straightforward with single twisted-pair cabling and standard 12V DC power input when local powering is needed.
