Description

The WP-EN6 is a 2-gang wall-plate video encoder designed to stream high-resolution HDMI sources over standard IP networks. It encodes 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 signals and supports HDCP 2.2 content protection. This compact wall-mounted encoder provides AV-over-IP functionality while fitting into a standard US 2-gang in-wall box.

The unit uses the JPEG 2000 compression standard to ensure compatibility with other compliant encoders and decoders and supports both unicast and multicast streaming via RTSP. It accepts HDMI input and extends IR, RS-232, and USB signals over IP to remote decoders. PoE powering simplifies installation by allowing power and video to be delivered over a single Ethernet cable.

Performance-wise the WP-EN6 handles peak bit rates up to 850 Mbps with typical 4K streaming averages around 350 Mbps and 1080p around 250 Mbps. The encoder supports a wide range of resolutions up to 4096×2160@60Hz and preserves embedded HDMI audio including PCM and common Dolby and DTS formats. Built-in scaling and cropping enable flexible mapping of source content to decoder outputs.

Connectivity includes one HDMI input, one RS-232 terminal connector, USB type-B, IR Tx/Rx 3.5mm jacks, and a Gigabit RJ-45 LAN/PoE port. The device auto-senses PoE and can also accept an optional external 12 VDC supply. Control and configuration are available via embedded web pages and an open API, enabling integration with third-party control systems.

Typical applications include distributed AV installations such as sports bars, educational facilities, corporate environments, airports, and government buildings where long-distance signal distribution and centralized streaming are required. The WP-EN6 supports video wall setups and KVM-over-IP scenarios for interactive and multi-display deployments. It interoperates with standard IP switches supporting IGMP snooping for multicast management.

Installation is straightforward; the unit fits standard Decora-style frames and mounts into a US 2-gang box for a clean in-wall appearance. PoE reduces cabling while the included white Decora-style frame facilitates aesthetic integration. The WP-EN6 is built for reliable everyday operation within a 0 to 40°C operating range and includes LEDs and a reset button for simple local diagnostics and management.
