Description
The ALP-600 is a broadband UHF bi-directional log periodic antenna designed to extend radio reception across the 520-760MHz band. It provides increased range compared to simple whip antennas thanks to its 1.6dBi gain. The antenna exhibits a bidirectional figure-8 radiation pattern that focuses reception toward the transmitter and reduces off-axis interference.
Key features include a wide 520-760MHz frequency range, a compact footprint, and a TNC input connector for direct integration with common RF receivers. The antenna delivers a measured 1.6dBi gain and a 120 degree half-power beam width for predictable coverage. It also offers a 19.4dB front-to-back ratio to help reject unwanted signals from the rear.
Performance specifications include a 1.5:1 SWR and a 50 ohm input impedance for reliable matching to RF front ends. The log periodic design provides stable performance across the entire UHF band rather than a single narrow frequency point. Built materials and element spacing are optimized to provide consistent gain and pattern control over 520-760MHz.
Connectivity is provided through a TNC input connector for secure RF coupling to receivers and combiners. The ALP-600 ships with mounting hardware that supports multiple configurations and easy placement on masts or trusses. Its small profile helps it integrate into crowded rigging without obstructing sightlines or other equipment.
Typical applications include wireless microphone systems, IFB and return audio paths, ENG and field production receivers, and supplemental receive antennas at broadcast locations. The bidirectional pattern is particularly useful when two transmitters lie on opposite sides of a deployment or when side-lobe rejection is required. Systems that need a compact, broadband receive antenna will benefit from the ALP-600’s coverage and rejection performance.
Installation is straightforward using the included mounting hardware and standard mast attachments – no special tools are required beyond typical RF installation gear. The antenna’s small profile and robust construction simplify deployment in studio racks, OB vans, and remote production sites. Overall the ALP-600 provides a compact, broadband receive solution that balances gain, pattern control, and ease of installation.
