Description

The SS-2002U is a two-channel flush mount intercom speaker station designed for permanent in-wall installation. It provides full send and receive capability across two intercom channels and includes a U-box enclosure for secure mounting. The station supports both a built-in panel electret microphone and an optional gooseneck microphone input to accommodate different console setups.

Key features include a 4 watt program speaker, push-type wire terminals for simplified wiring, and backlit front-panel controls for Channel Select, Talk, Listen, Call and Panel Mic. The Talk key supports both push-to-talk and hands-free latching modes to match operator preference. An internal DIP switch bank allows configuration of mic kill/detect, incoming call signaling and other behavior.

On the performance side the SS-2002U offers a wide send and receive frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and a microphone detect frequency at 24 kHz as specified. The microphone preamp provides 35 dB of gain and accepts headset and panel microphone impedances as listed. The speaker amplifier delivers 4 watts into an 8 ohm load to produce intelligible program audio in control rooms and production areas.

Connectivity includes a 4-pin XLR headset mic connector, a 1/4" TRS gooseneck panel mic input, and push-type screw terminals for system wiring. Phantom power is provided at 24 VDC nominal to power compatible gooseneck microphones and the station accepts local power between 12 and 15 VDC. The unit is compatible with balanced and unbalanced intercom channel wiring as specified by impedance ratings.

The SS-2002U is suitable for broadcast control rooms, production galleries, stage management booths and intercom racks where a recessed panel station is required. It supports common headset impedance ranges and provides both audible call signaling and configurable incoming call beeps. Its backlit controls and volume trim make it practical for low-light live production environments.

Installation is straightforward thanks to the U-box enclosure and push-type wire terminals that reduce wiring time and error. Internal DIP switches and a side tone trim pot allow technicians to fine tune operation during system integration. The rugged front panel and electret panel mic provide durable everyday operation for professional AV installations.
