Description
The SAP-612 Source Assign Panel is an audio intercom assignment unit designed to map six full duplex intercom channels to twelve TW user station strings. It enables independent assignment of each output string to any of the six intercom channels and provides two dedicated program inputs. This compact rack-mount panel centralizes channel assignment and power distribution for TW intercom systems.
The panel supports flexible channel routing where any one of six intercom channels or two program channels can be assigned to any of the twelve outputs. Outputs provide two separate feeds per user string and use three-pin XLR male connectors for direct connection to individual stations or groups. Built-in switchable 200 ohm line terminations and transformer-isolated program inputs preserve audio integrity across connected stations.
Key technical attributes include six full duplex channels, two program inputs, 12 user station strings, and measured control limits of 1.0 ampere maximum carrying current per output and 0.5 ampere maximum breaking current per output. Program input impedance is 600 ohm and nominal level is 0 dBm. Program 1 is permanently assigned to channel 5 and Program 2 is permanently assigned to channel 6 to simplify program distribution.
Connectivity is provided via three-pin XLR male connectors for standard intercom wiring, loop-thru capability on user stations or use of TW-5W 1×5 splitters for multi-station distribution. The SAP-612 accepts up to three separate two-channel power supplies such as the PS-20 for distributed power at the rear panel. Two balanced transformer isolated program inputs provide isolated program feeds to the system.
This panel is suitable for production control rooms, broadcast trucks, live events, and fixed installations where centralized channel assignment and reliable power distribution are required. Multiple SAP-612 units can be operated in parallel when additional outputs are needed. The device integrates cleanly into TW intercom systems and supports shared-call signaling among users assigned to the same channel.
Installation is straightforward in a standard 19 inch rack occupying 1U of height and includes a gray industrial finish for studio environments. The SAP-612 requires no external power supply when PS-20 units supply power at the rear connectors, simplifying setup and cabling. Built to RTS workmanship standards, the panel offers stable mechanical mounting and easy access to terminations and power connections.
