Description
The FT11N-4 is a secure unidirectional RS-232 isolator diode designed to enforce one-way serial data flow between two devices. It physically prevents return communications using hardware-enforced optical isolation – eliminating the risk of data leakage from destination to origin. This product is intended for installations that require command or status data to travel only in a single direction across an air gap.
As a purpose-built isolator, the FT11N-4 supports point-to-point RS-232 signaling and transparent serial operation while preserving standard serial parameters. The device supports user-configurable serial parameters such as baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits to match attached equipment. It operates at an aggregate bandwidth of 230,400 Kb/s to accommodate common SCADA and control workflows.
Physically the FT11N-4 measures 104 x 28 x 140 mm and weighs 0.3 kg. It uses an external 12V DC power input with a wall-mounted 90 to 240V AC power supply included and requires up to 1.5A. The unit is rated for operation from 0 to 40 C and storage between -20 to 60 C and is specified for 20 to 80 percent non-condensing humidity during operation.
Connectivity is straightforward and transparent to attached RS-232 devices so it can be deployed without changes to existing cabling or device settings beyond matching serial parameters. The isolator is supported across major host platforms for management and configuration including Windows, Linux and Mac. Its transparent behavior ensures compatibility with a wide range of serial equipment and control systems.
The FT11N-4 is suitable for protecting data flows in SCADA links, system synchronization channels, and other control command paths where preventing reverse data flow is critical. It is commonly used to protect classified or segmented networks and to reduce risk when sharing monitoring or control signals between separated domains. The device complements existing access controls by providing a hardware-enforced data diode.
