Description
The BTR-80N is a 2-channel frequency-agile UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex communications in congested RF environments. It supports simultaneous channel access from up to four full-duplex beltpacks and includes a front-panel talk/listen headset station for an additional user. The unit is optimized for live production, broadcast, and stage communications where clear, immediate talk paths are required.
Key features include Enhanced ClearScan 2-button frequency selection, DSP digital audio processing, combination tone code/RF noise squelch, and a large backlit graphical LCD for streamlined operation. The BTR-80N offers stage announce output with relay closure and wireless talk-around (ISO) to support diverse on-site workflows. Its improved narrow band modulation provides expanded usable bandwidth so more users can operate in tight UHF spectrum conditions.
Technically the BTR-80N operates with factory-selected preset frequency groups and supports independent 18 MHz bands for broad frequency selection. The unit transmits in 554-572 MHz and receives in 650-668 MHz and delivers an operating range up to 1000 ft under typical conditions. A transmit power level switch allows RF output adjustment to match deployment requirements while maintaining stable DSP audio performance.
Connectivity is extensive for broadcast environments – the base offers compatibility with Audiocom, Clear-Com, and RTS matrix wired and wireless intercoms, dedicated 2-wire XLE, and 4-wire RJ-11 connectors. Balanced XLR auxiliary audio input and output are provided for integration with consoles and routing systems. The front-panel headset connector automatically senses dynamic or electret boom microphones and includes dedicated headset and boom mic volume and gain controls.
Typical applications include live concerts, broadcast studios, theatrical productions, and corporate events where secure, full-duplex crew communications are essential. The BTR-80N supports multiple simultaneous users and system expansion for larger crews while preserving audio clarity. Its enhanced frequency scanning and ranking reduce interference and intermodulation risks in crowded RF environments.
Installation is straightforward with dual-voltage power for international operation and a compact rack-friendly chassis that fits standard broadcast racks. The transparent menu-driven interface and front-panel enable/disable controls with LED status indicators speed configuration and fault diagnosis. Built with professional workflows in mind, the BTR-80N combines durable hardware with the software features needed for reliable, daily use.
