Description
The BTR-80N is a 2-channel UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide multi-user full-duplex communication for live production and broadcast environments. It supports up to four full-duplex beltpacks simultaneously and offers a built-in talk/listen headset station at the base. The unit is frequency-agile and optimized for dense UHF spectrum operation.
Key features include an A5F RTS headset jack, Enhanced ClearScan 2-button frequency selection, combination tone code/RF noise squelch and DSP digital audio processing. The system delivers a 25kHz modulated bandwidth to increase user density per channel and includes factory-selected preset frequency groups organized in independent 18 MHz bands. A front-panel transmit power level switch allows range and interference management.
Performance metrics include factory preset frequency groups in the C3 band, a nominal operating range of 1000ft, and full support for up to four beltpacks with expandability options. The base station provides stage announce output via relay closure and wireless talk-around (ISO) capabilities. A large backlit LCD and transparent menu-driven GUI simplify setup and channel assignment.
Connectivity covers balanced XLR auxiliary audio input and output plus dedicated 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 connectors for wired intercom integration. The front panel offers independent portable station enable/disable buttons with LED status indicators and an auto-detect headset connector that recognizes dynamic or electret boom microphones. Compatibility extends to Audiocom, Clear-Com and RTS matrix wired and wireless intercoms.
Typical applications include theatrical productions, live concerts, broadcast trucks and fixed-install staging where reliable multi-user wireless intercom is required. The BTR-80N supports a fifth simultaneous talk/listen headset user at the base for directors or engineers to join communications without occupying a beltpack. Enhanced ClearScan ranks available frequencies to minimize interference and intermodulation in challenging RF environments.
Installation is streamlined through a transparent graphical interface, dual-voltage power supply for international operation and standard intercom wiring connectors. The chassis and front-panel controls are engineered for pro AV use with clear LED feedback and dedicated headset/gain controls. Overall the BTR-80N delivers a compact, networkable base station solution that balances RF efficiency, audio clarity and multi-user routing for production professionals.
