Description
The BTR-80N is a 2-channel UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide full-duplex communications between a base operator and up to four beltpack users. It delivers frequency-agile operation in the B3 band and supports a dedicated talk/listen headset station at the base. The unit is engineered for professional live production and broadcast environments where reliable wireless intercom is required.
Key features include support for up to four simultaneous full-duplex beltpacks, Enhanced ClearScan frequency selection, and wireless talk-around (ISO) functionality. The base offers a patented 2-button ClearScan search to rank available frequencies by reliability and minimize interference. A stage announce relay closure and transmit power level switch are provided to adapt to venue and regulatory requirements.
The BTR-80N implements combination tone code and RF noise squelch along with DSP digital audio processing for clean, intelligible audio. Improved narrow band operation provides a 25 kHz modulated bandwidth and frequency organization in independent 18 MHz bands. Typical operating range is approximately 1000 ft under normal conditions and the system supports factory preset frequency groups for simplified setup.
Connectivity includes a full-function headset station with automatic detection for dynamic or electret boom microphones and dedicated headset/boom mic volume and gain controls. The unit provides 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 connections for integration with wired intercom systems and XLR balanced auxiliary audio input and output. Compatibility extends to Audiocom, Clear-Com, RTS wired and wireless matrix systems.
Common applications include television and film productions, live events, and theatre communications where multiple users need reliable full-duplex intercom. The BTR-80N enables a fifth simultaneous local user at the base via the headset station, which is useful for directors, producers, or engineers. Its ClearScan and narrowband design help increase channel density in congested UHF spectrum environments.
Installation and operation are simplified through a large backlit LCD and transparent menu-driven GUI, plus front-panel enable/disable buttons with LED status indicators for each portable station. A dual voltage power supply supports international use and the chassis is built for rack or stand mounting in production racks. Firmware-driven features and front-panel controls make the BTR-80N straightforward to integrate and maintain in professional workflows.
