Description
The BTR-80N is a 2-channel frequency-agile UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex wireless communications between up to four beltpacks and a staffed headset station. It delivers clear digital audio processing and enhanced squelch functions to maintain intelligible talk paths in congested RF environments. The unit features a front talk/listen headset jack and a user interface with a backlit LCD for straightforward local operation.
Key features include Enhanced ClearScan frequency searching, combination tone code and RF noise squelch, DSP audio processing, and a 25kHz modulated bandwidth that allows denser channel allocation. The base supports simultaneous access by four full-duplex beltpacks and provides a dedicated headset station at the base that can act as a fifth simultaneous user. Additional features include stage announce output with relay closure and wireless talk-around (ISO) capability.
Performance specifications highlight an operating range of approximately 1000 ft and selectable transmit power levels to balance coverage and interference. The BTR-80N organizes available frequencies into independent 18 MHz bands with factory selected preset frequency groups to simplify deployment. Digital signal processing and advanced squelch reduce background noise and improve speech intelligibility in busy production sites.
Connectivity includes dedicated 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 connectors for wired intercom integration along with XLR balanced auxiliary audio input and output. The front panel headset connector automatically detects dynamic or electret boom microphones to simplify accessory selection. The base station is compatible with Audiocom, Clear-Com, and RTS/RTS matrix wired and wireless intercom systems for flexible integration into existing infrastructures.
Typical use cases include live event communications, broadcast production coordination, theater stage management, and mobile production trucks where wireless full-duplex intercom is required. The unit supports a staffed headset position for producers or technical directors while maintaining wireless links to talent and crew on beltpacks. Its frequency-agile design and ClearScan function make it suitable for deployments in congested RF environments where reliable channel selection is critical.
Installation and operation are streamlined through a transparent, menu-driven graphical interface and a large backlit LCD that simplifies assignment and monitoring. Dual voltage power capability supports international use and the rugged construction is intended for professional production environments. Overall the BTR-80N offers a compact, reliable wireless base station solution that balances expandability, audio clarity, and ease of integration.
