Description
The BTR-80N is a 2-channel frequency-agile UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex communication across production and broadcast environments. It supports channel access from multiple beltpacks and includes an integrated talk/listen headset station at the base. The unit is engineered to operate in crowded UHF spectrum and to maintain clear audio links across its operating bands.
Key features include Enhanced ClearScan two-button frequency selection, DSP digital audio processing, combination tone code and RF noise squelch, and a backlit graphical display for straightforward configuration. The base station supports up to four simultaneous beltpacks and can be expanded to accommodate larger crews. It also provides a stage announce output with relay closure and wireless talk-around (ISO) capability.
Technical performance focuses on efficient spectrum use and stable audio quality. The system uses improved narrowband modulation with 25kHz modulated bandwidth to allow more users per channel. Frequency allocation is organized into independent 18 MHz bands and factory preset frequency groups are available. The specified transmit/receive ranges cover 554-572 MHz transmit and 650-668 MHz receive bands for the A3 configuration.
Connectivity is comprehensive for integrated workflows. The BTR-80N includes an XLR balanced auxiliary audio input and output, 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 connectors for interoperability, and a front-panel A4M headset jack that auto-detects dynamic or electret boom microphones. Independent front portable station enable/disable buttons and LED status indicators simplify local control and monitoring.
Typical applications include live event production, broadcast operations, theatre communications, and mobile production trucks where frequency agility and low-interference operation are essential. The built-in headset station allows a fifth simultaneous user such as a director or engineer to monitor and communicate on the intercom channel. Enhanced ClearScan ranks available frequencies to help select interference-minimized channels on site.
Installation and daily use emphasize ease of setup and robust operation. The backlit LCD and transparent menu-driven interface reduce configuration time and make assignment tasks simple. The dual-voltage power supply supports international deployment and the ruggedized controls and connectors meet demanding production schedules and repeated handling.
