Description
The BTR-800 UHF base station is a frequency-agile wireless intercom hub designed to provide full-duplex voice communication for small crews. It supports two independent audio channels and tracks beltpack channel selection to deliver both party-line and private channel workflows. The system operates across the 470 MHz to 740 MHz UHF band providing reliable short-range wireless coverage.
Key features include two synthesized transmitters with up to 712 channels each and full-duplex simultaneous talk and listen capability. The base supports up to four beltpacks and provides stage announce and wireless talk-around control for flexible event management. ClearScan channel selection automatically finds optimal RF channels to minimize interference.
Performance metrics include selectable transmit power (100 mW high, 10 mW normal), RF frequency stability of 0.005, and FM modulation with 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz Europe). Audio frequency response extends from 300 Hz to 8 kHz and the local headset output provides 40 mW into 600 ohms at 1 percent distortion. Belts operate on standard alkaline batteries with an approximate 12 hour runtime.
Connectivity options are comprehensive for mixed-system integration. The base station provides level-adjustable 4-wire input and output, auxiliary balanced input and output, an IEC mains connector, and a TNC antenna connector. The BTR-800 interoperates with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire Intercom, Clear-Com, and other wired intercom formats to simplify integration into existing infrastructures.
Typical applications include live event communications, broadcast production backup intercom, theater stage operations, and portable field production. The two-channel selection enables simultaneous party and private conversations on a single beltpack, improving coordination without additional hardware. The system’s small rackmount form factor keeps it portable and simple to install in flypacks or production racks.
Installation and daily use are straightforward – the base is rack or table mountable and includes a backlit LCD for status monitoring. Beltpacks feature die-cast magnesium housings for shock and weather resistance and the base provides a stage-announce relay for easy integration with external PA or stage systems. RF range is line-of-sight around 1,000 feet and can be extended with optional antennas.
The BTR-800 delivers a compact, interoperable wireless intercom solution that combines two-channel audio, full-duplex beltpacks, and wired system compatibility. It is engineered for reliable operation in busy RF environments and provides technicians with clear controls, durable beltpacks, and the connectivity needed to integrate into professional intercom networks. This balance of features makes it a practical choice for production teams that require dependable wireless voice communications.
