Description

The BTR-800 is a UHF synthesized wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex voice communications between a rackmount base and up to four beltpacks. It operates across the 470-740 MHz bands and supports two independent intercom audio channels, allowing users to select between party line and private line conversations. The base station is available in a rackmount/table configuration and includes a backlit LCD for monitoring beltpack status.

Key features include frequency-agile synthesized transmitters, two audio channels of intercom, wireless talk-around and stage announce controls, and user-selectable transmit power levels. The system supports ClearScan automatic channel selection and binaural two-channel operation on compatible beltpacks, plus relay closure for stage announce control. The base and beltpacks are engineered for dependable daily operation in broadcast and live production environments.

Performance specifications cover a transmit power of up to 100 mW, typical battery life of 12 hours on standard alkaline cells, and an RF frequency stability of 0.005. The modulation uses FM with a deviation of 40 kHz (35 kHz Europe) and a frequency response of 300 Hz to 8 kHz. The system supports up to four simultaneous users and operates reliably at line-of-sight distances around 1,000 feet, extendable with external antennas.

Connectivity on the BTR-800 includes adjustable level 4-wire input and output, auxiliary balanced input and output, microphone input, and local headset output. The base provides an IEC power connector and TNC antenna connectors for supplied 1/2 wave antennas. The unit is compatible with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire, Clear-Com and other four-wire intercom and matrix systems for flexible integration.

Typical applications include broadcast ENG and studio intercom, live event production, theater communications, and on-stage production talk and stage announce. The dual-channel operation enables separation of production and stage communications or creation of private channels for technical staff. Wireless talk-around provides local comms without wired infrastructure when necessary.

Installation is straightforward: the rackmountable base uses standard IEC power and TNC antennas, and beltpacks are housed in die-cast magnesium for weather and shock resistance. The system includes user controls for power level, channel selection, SA and WTA functions, and a backlit LCD for status monitoring, enabling fast setup and dependable operation in demanding AV and broadcast workflows.
