Description
The BTR-800 UHF base station is a frequency-agile wireless intercom hub designed to provide full-duplex communications between a base and up to four beltpacks. It operates in the UHF band and delivers two selectable audio channels so users can maintain a party line and a private line simultaneously. The unit is rackmountable and features a backlit LCD for visual status monitoring.
Key features include dual synthesized transmitters with 712 channels each, two independent audio channels, and full-duplex beltpacks for natural conversation. The system supports stage announce and wireless talk-around functions, and the ClearScan function automatically finds optimal RF channels. Transmit power is selectable, enabling 100 mW maximum or 10 mW normal operation to suit varying range and regulatory needs.
Technically, the base covers 470-608 MHz and 614-740 MHz in 18 MHz TX/RX bands and provides an FM modulation system with 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz for Europe). Audio response is 300 Hz to 8 kHz and local headset output is specified at 40 mW into 600 Ohm. The unit supports external 4-wire interfaces and adjustable auxiliary I/O levels for integration with studio or venue audio systems.
Connectivity includes balanced 4-wire input/output, auxiliary balanced input and output, microphone input, stage announce relay dry contact, and supplied 1/2 wave antennas with TNC male connectors. The base station interfaces with Audiocom, RTS two-wire systems, Clear-Com and other wired intercoms plus RTS digital matrix systems. Power is provided via an IEC receptacle supporting 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
The BTR-800 is suited to broadcasts, live events, theatre productions and multi-operator installations where clear two-way communications are required. Its two-channel architecture lets production teams separate talk groups while retaining the option for private calls. With a typical beltpack battery life of about 12 hours on standard alkaline cells, it supports full-day operations.
Installation is straightforward using table-top or rackmount configurations, and the backlit LCD simplifies on-site monitoring and frequency selection. The die-cast magnesium beltpack housings provide weather and shock resistance for field use. Overall, the BTR-800 combines solid RF performance, flexible interfacing and durable construction to support professional intercom workflows.
