Description
The BTR-800 UHF wireless intercom base station provides two-channel full-duplex communications for production and broadcast teams. It operates across wide UHF bands to support up to four beltpacks simultaneously and offers frequency-agile operation for reliable RF performance. The base station is designed for rackmount or tabletop installation and includes a backlit LCD for system monitoring.
Key features include two independent audio channels so operators can select party line or private communications, ClearScan channel selection to automatically find clear frequencies, and TR-825 binaural audio support in stereo or mono. The system supports stage announce and wireless talk-around functions and provides relay contact closure for stage announce control. Full-duplex operation allows simultaneous talk and listen capability between base station and beltpacks.
Technically the system covers 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz split into 18 MHz transmit and receive bands and uses FM modulation with a 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz Europe). Transmit power is selectable up to 100 mW high or 10 mW normal, and RF frequency stability is specified at 0.005. The beltpack battery life is approximately 12 hours using standard alkaline cells and the system supports up to four users concurrently.
Connectivity includes level-adjustable 4-wire input/output, adjustable auxiliary input and output, local headset output and microphone input sensitivity. The base station uses an IEC mains connector and supplies TNC antenna connectors for supplied 1/2 wave antennas or external antenna systems. The BTR-800 interoperates with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire Intercom, Clear-Com and other four-wire or digital matrix intercom systems.
Typical applications include live broadcast production, theater and stage communications, location recording and corporate events where reliable wireless intercom is required. The unit provides reliable line-of-sight coverage of roughly 1,000 feet without external antennas and can extend range with optional antenna systems. Two-channel selection allows flexible party-line and private-line signalling in mixed crew environments.
Installation and operation are straightforward – rackmount ears are included and the base station can be deployed on a tabletop. Beltpacks are housed in die-cast magnesium cases rated for shock and weather resilience and the base station includes ClearScan and an easy-to-read LCD for monitoring. Together these design choices provide a robust, serviceable wireless intercom platform suitable for broadcast and live production workflows.
