Description
The BTR-800 UHF base station is a frequency-agile wireless intercom base designed to provide reliable full-duplex voice communications between a fixed base and up to four beltpack users. It operates across the 470-740 MHz UHF range and supports two independent intercom audio channels for flexible crew coordination. The unit is available in a rackmountable form factor and delivers line-of-sight wireless coverage suitable for typical production and event environments.
Key features include two synthesized transmitters with extensive channel capacity, ClearScan automatic channel selection, and full-duplex simultaneous talk and listen operation. The system supports two separate audio channels so operators can select party-line or private-line communications as needed. Transmit power is selectable for high or normal operation to match site requirements and regulatory constraints.
Performance specifications include a frequency range of 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz arranged in 18 MHz TX and RX bands, FM modulation with 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz Europe), and an RF frequency stability of 0.005. The headset output provides 40 mW into 600 ohms and the frequency response is 300 Hz – 8 kHz. Battery-powered beltpacks use standard alkaline cells and achieve typical runtimes of approximately 12 hrs.
Connectivity covers balanced adjustable 4-wire input and output lines, auxiliary balanced input and output, microphone input, and a stage-announce relay dry contact rated at 1 Amp 24V max. The base station uses a standard IEC AC inlet for 100-240 VAC power and ships with a supplied 1/2 wave antenna using TNC male connectors for TX and RX. The system interoperates with Audiocom, RTS two-wire intercom, Clear-Com and other wired four-wire intercom systems.
Typical applications include live production intercoms for television studios, concert and theatre stage communications, and corporate event production environments where secure full-duplex wireless intercom is required. The two audio channels allow a single crew to maintain both party-line communications and a private channel for production-critical instructions. Compact rackmount design and weather-resistant beltpacks make the system suitable for both indoor and outdoor mobile operations.
Installation and daily operation are straightforward – the base station provides a backlit LCD for status monitoring and ClearScan for fast channel setup. Rack or tabletop mounting options accommodate multiple deployment styles and the rugged die-cast magnesium beltpacks resist shock and weathering. The combination of reliable RF performance, simple interfacing, and industry-standard connectors ensures rapid integration into existing intercom ecosystems.
