Description
The TR-80N is a two-channel UHF narrowband wireless beltpack designed to work with the BTR-80N base station – it provides clear intercom audio in a compact portable form. The unit is frequency-agile and supports band H3 operations to meet regional UHF allocations. Its portable beltpack form factor makes it easy to carry and operate on stage or in broadcast production environments.
Key features include an LCD graphical user interface, a receiver RF meter for signal monitoring, and an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic microphones. The chassis uses a cast magnesium case for ruggedness and EMI resistance, and detachable antennas allow flexible antenna placement. Additional features such as enhanced ClearScan and wireless talk-around improve frequency management and local communications.
Audio controls are simple and direct – the beltpack provides an audio channel select button, a talk button, and a dedicated talk light for status feedback. The front panel includes a BAT/OM LED that indicates low battery and overmodulation conditions, plus an on/off and volume control for easy level adjustment. These controls are arranged for quick access during live events and rehearsals.
Power is supplied by six AA cells with alkaline recommended and NiMH as an optional rechargeable alternative – this offers flexible field serviceability and easy battery swaps. The unit operates across a wide temperature range from -20°C to 55°C to support both indoor and outdoor usage in varied climates. The beltpack is a user station form factor and is specified as binaural: No.
Connectivity supports standard headset interfacing via the auto-sensing connector and detachable antennas for antenna diversity or optimized placement. The LCD interface and RF meter provide visual feedback for channel selection and receiver strength which helps technicians tune systems quickly. Wireless talk-around (ISO) and stage announce features provide localized communications paths without disrupting the wider intercom network.
The TR-80N is appropriate for stage production, broadcast ENG/EFP teams, and fixed install intercoms where a rugged portable user station is required. Its magnesium housing, simple control set, and frequency-agile RF design deliver a dependable field-ready beltpack. For teams that need a compact, two-channel UHF user station with clear status indicators and flexible headset support, the TR-80N delivers a practical solution.
