Description
The TR-80N is a two-channel narrow-band UHF frequency-agile wireless beltpack designed to operate with the BTR-80N base station. It provides clear wireless intercom communications for production and broadcast teams and supports Band F3 operation. The unit delivers essential beltpack functions in a compact portable form factor.
Key features include an LCD graphical user interface, a receiver RF meter for signal monitoring, stage announce (SA) capability, and wireless talk around (WTA) for localized communication. The TR-80N also includes enhanced ClearScan to reduce interference and detachable antennas for flexible deployment. A dedicated talk button and talk light provide intuitive user feedback during operations.
Built around a cast magnesium all-metal case, the TR-80N offers robust physical protection while remaining lightweight enough for belt use. It is a two-channel narrow-band synthesized UHF device operating in Band F3 and provides receiver RF metering for quick signal diagnostics. Power is supplied by 6 AA cells, with NiMH cells supported as an option, and the operating temperature rating is -20°C to 55°C.
Connectivity is straightforward with an auto-sensing headset connector that automatically switches between electret and dynamic headset microphones. The beltpack supports detachable antennas for improved reception and placement flexibility. Front-panel controls include channel select, on/off and volume control, and status LEDs for battery/overmodulation and talk activity.
The TR-80N is ideal for live event production, broadcast ENG/EFP teams, theater communications, and any multi-operator intercom application requiring wireless mobility. Its two-channel operation and stage announce feature simplify crew coordination during scene changes and live broadcasts. Enhanced ClearScan and RF metering reduce setup time in RF-congested environments.
Installation and everyday operation are designed to be fast and reliable – battery replacement uses common AA cells and the auto-sensing headset jack minimizes headset configuration errors. The durable magnesium case and detachable antennas make the unit suitable for demanding field use. Overall the TR-80N balances rugged build quality with essential wireless intercom features for professional crews.
