Description
The RTS TR-800 is a two-channel UHF wireless beltpack designed to provide clear, reliable intercom audio for production and broadcast environments. It offers frequency-agile operation in HE band configurations and pairs with the BTR-800 base station for full system functionality. The unit combines rugged construction and intuitive controls to support demanding stage and broadcast workflows.
Key features include independent audio channel selection, individual volume controls, and an LCD-based graphical user interface that simplifies channel and status monitoring. Additional workflow features include stage announce, wireless talk-around (WTA), enhanced ClearScan frequency selection, and a talk light for visual signalling. The TR-800 also includes detachable antennas for flexible antenna placement and transport.
Technically, the TR-800 operates across UHF frequency ranges of 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz in 18 MHz TX and RX bands and supports 712 synthesized FM channels via a dual-conversion superheterodyne receiver. Frequency response spans 300 Hz to 8 kHz and RF sensitivity is specified at less than 0.7 for 12 dB SINAD. The unit maintains RF frequency stability to 0.005 and provides image rejection of 70 dB or better for robust RF performance.
Connectivity and audio performance are tailored for headset intercom use. The TR-800 provides an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic microphones and delivers 40 mW into 600 ohms for local headset output at 1% distortion. Antenna connections are screw-type, replaceable 1/4 wave elements for both transmit and receive. Power is supplied by six AA cells with optional NiMH rechargeable compatibility and the beltpack includes status indicators for battery and overmod conditions.
Typical applications include live theater, television production, mobile broadcast, and corporate events where two-channel wireless intercom is required. The pack supports stage announce and talk-around modes to route program or announce feeds to talent without interrupting system operation. Its compact beltpack form factor keeps operators mobile while preserving professional audio and signaling functions on the belt.
Installation and daily operation are straightforward thanks to the LCD GUI, tactile channel and talk buttons, and underlying robust mechanical design – the chassis is cast magnesium for durability. The unit’s detachable antennas and standard battery power allow easy field service and quick swaps during productions. Overall, the TR-800 delivers a blend of RF performance, audio clarity, and operator-focused controls suited to professional intercom deployments.
