Description
The TR-800 is a two-channel UHF wireless beltpack designed to provide clear, reliable intercom audio for production and broadcast environments. It offers frequency-agile operation across FD band allocations and an LCD graphical user interface for channel and status monitoring. Robust construction and user controls make the unit suitable for daily use on stage and in broadcast workflows.
Main features include independent audio channel selection, individual volume controls, stage announce and wireless talk-around activation. The unit supports enhanced ClearScan for improved channel selection and uses detachable screw-type antennas for field serviceability. An auto-sensing headset connector enables automatic switching between electret and dynamic headset microphones for flexible headset options.
Technical performance focuses on reliable RF and audio metrics. The TR-800 operates in 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz ranges in 18 MHz TX and RX bands and offers synthesized dual conversion superheterodyne reception with 712 channels. Frequency response is 300 Hz – 8 kHz and RF sensitivity is specified at < 0.7 for 12 dB SINAD, ensuring intelligible voice reproduction in crowded RF environments.
Connectivity and physical design are optimized for professional users. The beltpack uses a 1/4 wave screw-type replaceable antenna for TX and RX, a local headset output rated at 40 mW into 600 Ohm, and an auto-sensing mic jack for electret or dynamic headsets. Power is provided by six AA alkaline cells, with NiMH rechargeable cells as an option, and an LCD UI presents status and controls clearly to the operator.
Typical applications include live event intercom, studio communications, and production stage management where mobility and dependable RF performance are required. The TR-800 integrates with RTS BTR-800 base stations and other compatible intercom infrastructure. Features such as stage announce and talk light improve on-stage coordination and operator feedback during complex productions.
Installation and daily operation are straightforward – the unit mounts on a belt and offers user-accessible volume control and channel selection. The cast magnesium metal case provides impact resistance and durability in demanding environments. Routine maintenance is simplified by detachable antennas and replaceable batteries ensuring minimal downtime in the field.
