The RTS TR-800 is a two-channel UHF wireless beltpack designed as a user station for the BTR-800 wireless intercom system. It provides secure wireless intercom connectivity and reliable audio performance across E88 band frequencies. The unit is built with an all-metal cast magnesium case for durability in production environments.
The beltpack includes an LCD-based graphical user interface that simplifies channel selection and status monitoring. Individual volume controls allow precise level adjustment for each channel and a local talk button provides immediate channel access. Additional controls include audio channel select, talk light, bat/overmod indicator and a dedicated talk button for operator clarity.
Technical features include a dual-conversion superheterodyne synthesized FM receiver with 712 channels and enhanced ClearScan for optimized frequency selection. The TR-800 supports RF frequency ranges 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz in 18 MHz TX and RX bands and offers a frequency response of 300 Hz – 8 kHz. RF sensitivity, selectivity and stability values are designed to meet professional intercom performance requirements.
Connectivity and headset support are comprehensive, featuring an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic headset microphones. The unit ships with 1/4 wave screw-type replaceable antennas for TX and RX and includes detachable antenna capability. Power is provided by six AA cells, with NiMH rechargeable cells supported as an option.
Typical use cases include live production, broadcast studios, and stage management where secure two-channel wireless communication is required. The TR-800 supports wireless talk-around (WTA) and stage announce (SA) functions to facilitate onstage communication and local announcements. Its graphical interface and clear indicators reduce operator training time and increase operational reliability during events.
Installation and day-to-day operation emphasize ease of use and ruggedness. The cast magnesium housing protects internal circuitry while remaining lightweight for belt-mounted operation.
