Description
The TR-800 is a two-channel UHF wireless beltpack designed to work with the BTR-800 base station – it provides clear, mobile intercom communications for production crews and event staff. The unit is frequency-agile across certified UHF bands and features an LCD graphical user interface for intuitive operation. Rugged construction and long battery life make it suitable for demanding field use.
Key features include individual volume controls, detachable antennas, an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic mics, and an all-metal cast magnesium case. The beltpack also incorporates stage announce activation and Wireless Talk Around (WTA) to maintain communication when base station access is limited. Enhanced ClearScan simplifies frequency selection and reduces the risk of interference.
Performance specifications include an RF frequency range of 470-608 MHz and 614-740 MHz in 18 MHz transmit/receive bands and a frequency response of 300 Hz to 8 kHz. The receiver is a dual conversion superheterodyne synthesized FM design with up to 712 channels and RF stability of 0.005. RF sensitivity is less than 0.7 for 12 dB SINAD and distortion is under 1% at full deviation.
Connectivity and controls are straightforward, with local headset output rated at 40 mW into 600 ohm (1% distortion), a push-to-talk button, talk light, and channel select controls. The unit accepts common headsets via a screw-type replaceable 1/4 wave antenna on both transmit and receive paths. Power is supplied by six AA cells with NiMH rechargeable cells supported as an option.
Practical applications include live event stage management, broadcast production beltpack use, and intercom networks for touring or fixed installations. The TR-800 supports stage announce and ISO talk around workflows to maintain critical communications under complex routing conditions. Its two-channel capability lets users monitor and switch between primary and secondary channels quickly.
Installation and day-to-day use are simplified by the LCD GUI, detachable antennas for transport, and a durable magnesium housing that withstands rigors of production environments. Battery installation and replacement are quick and the control layout keeps essential functions accessible during live operations. The TR-800 balances technical flexibility with rugged, user-focused design to support professional intercom systems.
