Description
The BTR-800 is a UHF synthesized wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex communications between a central base and up to four beltpack users. It operates in E88 band frequency ranges and offers two independent intercom audio channels to support both party line and private communications. The base station is available in a rackmountable or table configuration and includes a backlit LCD for status monitoring.
Key features include a frequency-agile base and beltpacks, ClearScan automatic channel selection, and full compatibility with major wired intercom protocols – Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire Intercom, Clear-Com and other four-wire systems. The unit supports wireless talk-around (WTA) and stage announce (SA) functions and provides relay contact closure for SA operation. Transmit power is selectable with High and Normal settings to suit coverage requirements.
Technical performance covers operation across 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz in 18 MHz TX and RX bands, FM modulation, and a deviation of 40 kHz (35 kHz Europe). The system provides two synthesized transmitters with 712 channels each and RF frequency stability of 0.005. Frequency response is 300 Hz to 8 kHz and local headset output is rated at 40 mW into 600 ohms.
Connectivity includes balanced adjustable 4-wire input and output, auxiliary input and output, microphone input, standard IEC mains power inlet, and TNC antenna connectors. The supplied antenna is a 1/2 wave type and the stage announce output and relay are internally adjustable and rated respectively. The base interfaces cleanly with wired intercom panels and matrix systems to integrate wireless beltpacks into existing infrastructures.
Practical applications include live event intercom, broadcast production, theater stage communications and rental workflows. The two-channel binaural beltpack option supports stereo or mono operation for enhanced operator awareness and simplifies large crew coordination. With up to four simultaneous users, the system supports small to medium production teams requiring robust wireless intercom links.
Installation is straightforward – rack or table mount the base station, connect antennas and wired intercom lines, and use the ClearScan function to identify optimal channels. The beltpack housings are weather and shock resistant in die cast magnesium, and beltpack battery life typically extends to 12 hours on standard alkaline cells. Overall construction and feature set make the BTR-800 an effective solution for integrated wired and wireless intercom systems.
