Description
The BTR-800 base station is a UHF synthesized wireless intercom designed to provide reliable full-duplex communications for production and broadcast teams. It supports up to four compatible beltpacks and offers two simultaneous intercom audio channels to separate party and private lines. The system operates across the E88 band and is engineered for dependable line-of-sight coverage and consistent audio clarity.
Key features include frequency-agile operation, ClearScan automatic channel selection, a backlit LCD for status monitoring, and selectable transmit power levels. The base station supports full two-channel binaural audio operation and provides wireless talk-around and stage announce functions. Built-in relays and stage-announce outputs expand system control and monitoring options for live events.
Technically the BTR-800 operates in the 470 – 608 MHz and 614 – 740 MHz ranges in 18 MHz transmit and receive bands and uses FM modulation with a 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz Europe). It offers two synthesized transmitters with 712 channels each and RF frequency stability of 0.005. The system delivers a frequency response of 300 Hz to 8 kHz, up to 100 mW transmit power, and an estimated beltpack battery life of 12 hrs using standard alkaline cells.
Connectivity includes level-adjustable 4-wire input and output, adjustable auxiliary input and output, local headset output, and a microphone input. The base station has an IEC power connector for 100-240 VAC operation and 50-60 Hz, and supplied 1/2 wave antennas use TNC male connectors for TX and RX. Compatibility is broad, allowing interfacing with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire, Clear-Com and other wired intercom systems and RTS digital matrix gear.
Typical applications include broadcast production, theatre and live event stage management, sports venues, and corporate events where clear, reliable wireless intercom is required. The two audio channels let operations teams create party lines and private channels simultaneously, improving workflow and reducing communication errors. Its full-duplex beltpacks allow simultaneous talk and listen for natural conversation between crew members.
Installation is straightforward for rack or table mounting and the front-panel backlit LCD simplifies monitoring and configuration. Beltpacks are housed in weather- and shock-resistant die-cast magnesium cases for road use and durability. The system’s ClearScan feature and synthesized frequency control streamline setup and reduce RF conflicts, while the rugged construction supports heavy use in professional environments.
