Description
The BTR-800 is a UHF synthesized wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex communications between a rackmount base and up to four beltpack units. It operates across broad UHF bands and supports two independent audio channels so users can select party line or private communications. The base is engineered for broadcast production environments where consistent RF performance and clear audio are required.
Key features include frequency-agile operation across 470-608 MHz and 614-740 MHz bands, dual synthesized transmitters with hundreds of channels, and a clear backlit LCD for beltpack status monitoring. The system supports full-duplex talk and listen, wireless talk-around and stage announce functions, and a stage-announce relay for external control. Two audio channels allow binaural stereo or mono operation on compatible beltpacks.
Technically the base station provides a transmit power selectable up to 100 mW and a normal 10 mW setting, FM modulation with 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz Europe), and RF frequency stability of 0.005. Audio performance includes a frequency response of 300 Hz to 8 kHz and local headset output rated at 40 mW into 600 ohms. The system supports standard alkaline battery battery life estimates for beltpacks near 12 hrs under normal use.
Connectivity includes adjustable 4-wire input and output levels, adjustable auxiliary input and output, local headset output, and an IEC mains inlet for 100-240 VAC operation. Antenna connections use TNC male connectors for transmit and receive and a supplied half-wave antenna is included. The BTR-800 is compatible with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire Intercom, Clear-Com and other four-wire intercom systems, enabling integration into existing comms infrastructures.
Common applications include live event communications, broadcast production comms, theater stage communications, and location production where wireless crew coordination is needed. The two-channel architecture lets a crew run a shared party line alongside a private channel for isolated conversations. The stage announce and wireless talk-around features further support complex production workflows.
Installation and operation are straightforward – the base can be rackmounted or used on a table and includes a clear LCD for monitoring and configuration. The rugged beltpacks are in shock and weather resistant die-cast magnesium housings to withstand field use. Overall the BTR-800 delivers predictable RF behavior, multiple connectivity options and audio controls suited to professional AV and broadcast use.
