Description
The 4030 Portable 2-Channel IFB Listening Station is a compact belt-pack designed to let a single user monitor two intercom channels simultaneously. It is a listen-only IFB station that provides independent level control for each channel and a clear connection status indicator. The unit supports both monaural and stereo headsets and is powered via the intercom system on channel one.
Built for straightforward operation, the 4030 offers separate volume controls for channel one and channel two and an illuminated indicator that confirms a functioning intercom connection. It accepts a 1/4in monaural plug for single-channel operations and a 1/4in stereo plug for dual-channel monitoring. Power and audio are supplied through an XLR-3F interface that follows standard intercom wiring conventions.
On the performance side, the listening station provides a nominal audio input level of 2V p-p (0dBu) and an input impedance of 200 ohm ±5%. The internal amplifier delivers up to 65 mW into 150 ohms and maintains a frequency response of 250 Hz to 8 kHz at +1/-4 dB. Noise is specified at less than -60 dB, ensuring clear intelligibility for voice communications.
Connectivity includes intercom channel connectors via XLR-3F, a 1/4in monaural jack for channel one, and a 1/4in stereo jack for combined channel monitoring. The unit is compatible with RTS/Telex 2-wire IFB and 4010 IFB systems and uses standard RTS line voltage. The power-on indicator provides immediate feedback that channel one is supplying power.
Typical applications include broadcast talent IFB monitoring, ENG and field production, and mobile studio use where a single user needs access to two talkback or program feeds. The lightweight belt-pack design and compact footprint make it easy to secure on talent or crew during live events and remote shoots. It offers practical channel separation and simple controls to reduce setup complexity in fast-paced environments.
Installation is plug-and-play – connect the XLR to the intercom feed on channel one and insert the preferred headset into the appropriate jack. The unit measures 3.65 x 3.75 x 1.5 in and weighs 10.8 oz, making it unobtrusive on a belt or in a pocket. Built to operate across a wide humidity and temperature range, the 4030 is suited to studio and field conditions where reliable, straightforward IFB monitoring is required.
