Description
The TR-82N-HE is a two-channel UHF narrow band beltpack designed for professional intercom and production environments. It provides dual-listen capability so a user can monitor two separate channels simultaneously – commonly used for Tech and Production feeds. The unit pairs with RTS BTR-80N receivers and delivers reliable wireless comms for live events and broadcast crews.
Key features include dual-channel frequency agility, configurable ClearScan, and wireless Talk Around (WTA) to enable isolated communication paths. The beltpack includes a low battery/overmodulation indicator, a receiver RF meter, a stage announce function, and dedicated talk and talk-light controls. Individual volume controls on each earcup make level balancing quick and precise.
Technically the TR-82N-HE supports two narrow-band UHF channels and is powered by six AA cells with optional NiMH batteries. The housing is an all-metal cast magnesium case and the user interface is an LCD-based graphical display. The unit also features detachable antennas and an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic microphone headsets.
Connectivity is straightforward with a standard headset connector that auto-detects headset mic type and a talk button with visual talk light. The receiver RF meter and ClearScan functions assist engineers in locating clean frequencies and monitoring signal strength. Detachable antennas simplify transport and rack integration while preserving RF performance on site.
Typical applications include live production, theater, broadcast OB vans, and staging where reliable two-channel communications and separate Tech/Production monitoring are needed. The TR-82N-HE is suited to multi-user workflows where clear audio, battery status awareness, and quick channel checks are essential. Its wireless Talk Around and stage announce features support on-the-fly local communications without operator intervention.
Installation and day-to-day use are designed to be familiar to AV professionals – the beltpack mounts to a belt, accepts common AA cell configurations, and uses simple front-panel controls for power and volume. The robust magnesium housing and clear LCD interface combine to deliver a durable and serviceable user station. Overall the TR-82N-HE provides dependable wireless beltpak performance for production-focused teams.
