Description
The TR-82N-FER is a two-channel UHF beltpack designed to provide dependable wireless intercom for production crews and technical personnel. It delivers dual-listen capability so the user can monitor separate channels simultaneously. The unit pairs to the BTR-80N receiver and is intended for professional broadcast and live-event environments.
Key functional features include dual-channel Narrow Band UHF tuning, a graphical LCD interface, and a receiver RF meter for signal awareness. The beltpack offers stage announce (SA) and wireless talk around (WTA) functions to support stage-to-control communication. Onboard status indicators include low battery and overmodulation (BAT/OM) lights and a dedicated talk light.
Technical build highlights include an all-metal cast magnesium case and detachable antennas for rugged field use and easy transport. Power is supplied by six AA cells with NiMH battery compatibility optional, and the operating temperature range supports harsh conditions. The unit provides binaural output and individual volume adjustments for each ear.
Connectivity centers on an auto-sensing headset connector that switches between electret and dynamic microphone headsets automatically. The beltpack also supports standard headset terminations used in professional intercom headsets. The LCD-based graphical user interface simplifies channel selection and status readouts during fast-paced productions.
Typical applications include live event production, broadcast ENG teams, theatrical stage operations, and multi-role technical crews requiring isolated channel monitoring. The TR-82N-FER is optimized for environments where separate tech and production feeds must be monitored simultaneously. Its RF meter and ClearScan enhancements help maintain reliable wireless operation in congested UHF bands.
Installation and daily operation are straightforward thanks to clear front-panel controls, a dedicated talk button, and individual ear volume controls. The rugged magnesium casing and detachable antennas make the unit suitable for repeated transport and field deployment. Routine maintenance is simplified by user-replaceable AA batteries and a logical interface layout.
