Description
The DANTE-12GAM is an SDI audio bridge that connects embedded audio in 12G-SDI video to Dante IP audio networks and back. It performs 32 channels of simultaneous embed and de-embed across a single 12G-SDI link and a Dante network. The unit supports modern broadcast resolutions and provides integrated signal generators for standalone operation.
Key features include 12G-SDI I/O supporting 4K and DCI 4K formats, 32 channels of embedded audio, and dual EtherCON GigE ports for primary/secondary Dante connectivity. The device supports Dante networking, AES67 interoperability, and SMPTE ST 2110-30 IP audio workflows. Front-panel controls and an LCD provide local status and configuration.
Performance specifications include ultra-low SDI path delay measured in microseconds and deterministic audio latency across embed and de-embed paths. Sample rates supported include 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz with PCM 16/24/32 encoding. The onboard generators eliminate the need for external sync sources in many configurations.
Connectivity is comprehensive and broadcast-oriented with a BNC 12G-SDI input and output, USB-C port for initial static IP configuration, and dual EtherCON RJ45 ports for Dante/AES67 audio networking. The device is compatible with Dante Controller and Dante Via and supports PTPv2 timing for SMPTE ST 2110 synchronization. Web UI access allows remote monitoring and firmware updates.
Typical applications include routing embedded audio into facility Dante networks, integrating SDI sources into ST 2110 infrastructures, and extracting multichannel audio for mixing or processing. The 32-channel capacity supports complex channel mappings for live production, OB trucks, and broadcast studios. It also fits well in AV-over-IP installations requiring AES67 bridging.
The DANTE-12GAM is housed in a compact rugged aluminum chassis with front-to-back active cooling and an LCD for status. Setup is streamlined via front-panel buttons or the integrated web UI, and the unit accepts AC or DC power and supports PoE for flexible installations. Firmware updates and network configuration are handled through the web UI or Dante Controller for repeatable deployments.
