Description
The DS-RN12 is a wall-mounted bi-directional Dante / AES67 network audio interface designed to bridge a single mic or line input to two network outputs and to convert two network channels to balanced analog outputs. It provides a front-panel XLR mic/line input and both front and rear balanced outputs for seamless local and networked audio integration. The unit is PoE powered and fits a standard US single-gang electrical box – mounting adapters available for EU/UK boxes.
Key features include software-selectable mic or line input gain, P48 phantom power selectable for mic use, and a front-panel XLR output configurable as mic or line level. The DS-RN12 delivers two balanced line outputs on a rear detachable wiring block plus a front XLR output for local feed or amplification. Each output includes a software-controlled attenuator adjustable in 1 dB steps for precise level control.
Audio performance is based on high-resolution 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion with sample rates up to 96 kHz and an operating level of -18 dBFS = +4 dBu. The RDL mic preamplifier yields low equivalent input noise and >18 dB headroom above +4 dBu on outputs. Distortion is kept below 0.1% across the audio band to preserve clarity and intelligibility.
Connectivity includes an RJ45 Dante network port with link and speed LEDs visible from the front for easy status checks. The front-panel XLR accepts mic or line sources while two balanced outputs are available on a removable wiring block and on the front XLR jack. Configuration and level control are handled via RDL CONSOLE or other Dante/AES67-compatible network control software.
The DS-RN12 is suited to a range of applications including conference rooms, lecture halls, houses of worship, and broadcast contribution points where a single mic or line needs to be sent to a network and where network channels must be converted back to local analog outputs. It supports both condenser and dynamic microphones and provides software-selected phantom power for condenser operation. The rugged steel chassis and Decora-style faceplate allow simple, discreet installation.
Installation is straightforward – the module installs in a single-gang box and is powered via PoE for simplified wiring. The device ships with selectable software parameters for gain and phantom power so commissioning is fast and repeatable. Built for continuous duty, the DS-RN12 combines studio-quality audio performance with network flexibility and reliable construction.
