Description

The DS-NLC1R is a networked rotary volume remote that provides local volume adjustment and muting with a visual LED level ring. It connects over standard IP networks and is powered via PoE for simplified installation. The unit presents a compact wall-mount interface suitable for shared control in multiroom audio systems.

The device uses a rotary encoder with mechanical detents and an LED rotary string display to show relative level. It offers attenuation control in 1 dB steps from 0 to 64 dB, programmable knob acceleration and a momentary push action for mute and unmute. The LED display also indicates mute state and reported attenuation from the controlled device.

Technically, the NLC1R uses an RJ45 network connector and 100 Mbps transmission rate for command and status exchange. It is PoE Class 0 compliant with IEEE 802.3af powering and operates in ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C. The front panel presents ten level LEDs and the rear panel provides Ethernet link and speed indicators.

Connectivity supports compatible RDL endpoints such as D-RN and DD-RN units and other Dante-capable devices that accept network level commands. Multiple NLC1R units can be assigned to the same device or group and will track level and mute state across remotes. The unit sends and displays attenuation information as reported by the controlled network device.

Common applications include auxiliary zone volume control in commercial audio installations, distributed paging level adjustment and local user control in conference or hospitality zones. The NLC1R is suited for locations where a low-profile user interface and visual level feedback are required. The remote’s LED ring and tactile knob provide clear user feedback in busy environments.

Installation is straightforward – the unit mounts in a standard US electrical box and requires no additional power supply when PoE is available. The display dims after periods of inactivity to reduce distraction and returns to full intensity upon user interaction. Field-upgradable firmware and RDL CONSOLE configuration options allow installers to refine knob acceleration and device assignments.
