Description

The DS-BTN21 is a wall-mounted Bluetooth audio interface designed to bring wireless media sources into Dante or AES67 audio networks. It accepts Bluetooth stereo or summed mono inputs and presents them as two Dante channels on the network. The module also provides a return talk channel from the Dante network back to the connected Bluetooth device.

Key features include single-button Bluetooth pairing with LED status, configurable mono or stereo operation, and remote control of Bluetooth functions via RDL CONSOLE software or compatible RDL remotes. The module multicasts Bluetooth track metadata and module status to compatible network devices. It supports playback control commands and basic track navigation from remote controls or software.

Technically the DS-BTN21 operates on Dante at 48 kHz sample rate and 24-bit depth over a 100 Mbps Ethernet link. Audio operating levels are -20 dBFS equating to +4 dBu balanced or -10 dBV unbalanced as nominal reference levels. The module is PoE powered and conforms to IEEE 802.3af Class 0 so it requires a PoE-capable network port or injector.

Connectivity is provided by an RJ45 network connector with link and speed indicators and front-panel LEDs for Bluetooth and network sync. Bluetooth pairing and media control functions are manageable in RDL CONSOLE software and via a Q-SYS plug-in for integration into Q-SYS systems. Compatible remote controls can manage pairing, un-pairing, track selection, and level.

The DS-BTN21 is suited to bringing consumer devices into professional audio systems for background music, source injection, or two-way talk-back applications. It supports multicast of track title and artist metadata for display on compatible remotes and software. The Dante return channel enables applications that require audio from the network to be sent back to a Bluetooth handset.

Installation is straightforward – the module fits a standard US single-gang electrical box or the RDL EP-1 adaptor for EU/UK square back boxes with 60 mm screw centers. PoE power removes the need for local power wiring and the unit is available in multiple finishes with optional custom graphics. LED dim intensity and timeout settings are configurable to suit installed environments.

RDL provides a compact, networked Bluetooth interface that integrates consumer audio sources into Dante or AES67 systems with remote control and metadata support. The DS-BTN21 balances simple user operation and installer configuration while maintaining required audio reference levels and network interoperability.
