Description

The DB-RN12 is a wall-mounted bi-directional Dante/AES67 audio interface designed to convert a single analog mic/line input to network audio and to convert two network channels to balanced analog outputs. It provides a front-panel XLR mic/line input and a front XLR output plus two rear balanced line outputs on a detachable wiring block. This unit is PoE powered and fits a standard US single-gang electrical box for convenient installation.

Key features include selectable mic and line gain settings, remote-selectable P48 phantom power, and software-controlled attenuators on each analog output. The front-panel XLR input offers software-selectable gains of 35 dB, 42 dB and 59 dB for microphone use and unity or 12 dB for line use. Each output channel supports a software-adjustable attenuator in 1 dB steps across a wide range for precise level control.

The DB-RN12 uses high-resolution 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion and supports sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz (default), 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz. Operating reference levels are -18 dBFS = +4 dBu and 0 dBFS = +22 dBu, and THD+N is specified at less than 0.1 percent across the audio band. The RDL studio mic preamplifier design delivers low noise and high headroom to preserve signal fidelity in professional installations.

Connectivity includes an RJ45 network port for Dante/AES67 audio, a front XLR input and XLR output, and two rear detachable wiring block outputs for balanced line-level distribution. The module is configured and adjusted using RDL CONSOLE or compatible network control software and indicates PoE power and network sync via front-panel LEDs. It is compatible with RDL network remote controls and standard Dante management tools.

Typical applications include point-source capture to networked audio systems, local zone feeds from network channels, and wall-mounted mic integration in conference rooms, classrooms and broadcast spaces. The balanced outputs can drive local amplifiers or feed additional XLR jacks mounted adjacent to the unit. Its compact single-gang form factor keeps the installation tidy while providing professional audio I/O on the wall.

Installation is straightforward: mount into a single-gang electrical box or use the EP-1 adapter for EU/UK back boxes, connect PoE-enabled Ethernet for power and audio, and access RDL CONSOLE for gain and phantom settings. The steel chassis and powder-coated or stainless-steel Decora faceplate provide robust mechanical protection for continuous-duty operation. Front visible LEDs give quick confirmation of network link and sync status during commissioning.

Overall, the DB-RN12 delivers studio-quality mic preamp performance, Dante/AES67 network interoperability and flexible analog I/O in a compact wall-mounted module. Its software control, selectable phantom power and precision attenuators make it suitable where controlled network integration and dependable audio performance are required. The product is engineered and manufactured in the U.S.A. for long-term reliability and serviceability.
