Description
The D-RN2ML is a wall-mounted bi-directional Dante/AES67 audio network interface that converts mic and line sources to network audio and returns two network channels to balanced line outputs. It is designed for fixed installations requiring networked audio I/O in a single-gang footprint. The unit is PoE powered and supports 24-bit conversion for transparent audio performance.
The unit provides one front-panel XLR that accepts mic-level or line-level input with software-selectable gain and P48 phantom power. A stereo mini-jack input on the front panel is actively summed to mono and offers three software-controlled gain settings. Two balanced rear-panel outputs on a detachable wiring block present network audio as +4 dBu balanced analog outputs with software-controlled attenuation in 1 dB steps.
Audio conversion uses 24-bit A/D and D/A converters and supports sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz (default), 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz. The device operates at an audio reference of -18 dBFS equals +4 dBu and offers low noise performance with equivalent input noise below -128 dBu at the highest gain setting. THD+N is specified under 0.1 percent across the audio band and crosstalk is below the noise floor.
Connectivity is via a single RJ45 Dante/AES67 network port supporting 100 Mbps transmission and providing PoE Class 0 power. Front-panel indicators show sync and power and rear-panel link and speed indicators show Ethernet status. The D-RN2ML is configured and adjusted using RDL CONSOLE or other compatible network control software and integrates with RDL network remotes.
Typical applications include conference rooms, broadcast facilities, classrooms and background music systems where a compact wall-mounted network audio interface is required. The combination of selectable mic preamp gain, phantom power, summed mini-jack input and two network-fed outputs makes the unit suitable for microphone feeds, source injection and local amplifier driving. Its low-noise studio-quality preamplifier maintains signal integrity in demanding audio paths.
Installation is straightforward – the D-RN2ML fits a US single-gang electrical box or can be mounted in European/UK back boxes using the EP-1 adapter plate. PoE power eliminates the need for local DC supplies and software control enables remote gain, phantom and output attenuation adjustments. The unit is housed in a steel chassis with a Decora-style front plate and is built for continuous duty in professional installations.
