The EXT3-U-R is a USB 2.0 receiver that converts a transmitted CAT signal into USB, RS-232 and analog audio outputs – providing extended-reach USB connectivity over a single twisted-pair CAT cable. It supports two-way power delivery to the remote node so connected peripherals remain powered according to system configuration. The unit is designed for stable USB 2.0 communication over extended distances.
The receiver supports multiple USB transfer modes including interrupt, bulk and isochronous communication and integrates a USB hub to present up to four USB 2.0 Type-A ports locally. It also extends a stereo unbalanced analog audio line via a 3.5mm jack and a bidirectional RS-232 interface for serial control. LED status indicators are included for visual troubleshooting and maintenance.
Performance specifications include USB 2.0 data rates up to 480 Mbps and a transmitted data bandwidth of up to 300 Mbps between transmitter and receiver. The extension line reach is up to 100m, 330ft over recommended twisted-pair Kramer cabling, and RS-232 is supported at a baud rate of 9600. Power is supplied by a 12V DC, 2A adapter and typical device consumption is 1500 mA at 12V DC.
Connectivity options include a single RJ-45 CAT input, four USB-A device ports, a 3.5mm stereo output and a 3-pin terminal block for RS-232.
