Description
The CLS-AOCU32/AC-50 is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 hybrid optical/copper cable designed to deliver high-speed data links between a USB-A host and a USB-C device. It provides up to 10Gbps throughput when used with USB 3.2 host and device endpoints. This cable is specifically engineered for long-reach USB connections where standard copper-only cables are impractical.
Key features include a hybrid construction that combines fiber optics and copper conductors to maintain signal integrity over long distances. The cable supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 SuperSpeed+ data rates and is backward compatible with USB 3.0, 2.0 and USB 1.1 (noting USB 1.1 compatibility up to 50ft). The design is plug-and-play and requires no additional drivers or external power for data transfer functions.
Technically, the cable uses a 2-channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL array for the optical portion and bare copper conductors for power and control, providing a reliable 10Gbps maximum data rate. It consumes ≤0.5W during operation and is intended for data transfer only – it does not support device charging or Alternate Mode signaling. The cable measures 4.8mm in diameter and maintains a minimum bending radius of 20mm.
Connectivity is provided by a USB 3.2 Type-A male connector on one end and a USB 3.2 Type-C male connector on the other. It is suitable for USB cameras, webcams, printers, speakerphones and similar USB peripheral devices. Remote devices are recommended to be self-powered when possible to ensure stable operation over the cable length.
Typical applications include conference room AV systems, live streaming rigs, camera tethering for production, and long-distance USB links in control rooms. The cable supports professional AV workflows that require high-bandwidth data transfer without the limitations of copper-only cabling. Its hybrid construction helps maintain signal quality across 50ft runs where conventional copper cables may fail.
Installation is straightforward and requires no special configuration – the cable is true plug-and-play. The jacket and construction are engineered for handling with specified crush and tensile ratings, and the cable is rated for an operating temperature range of -20 to 50°C with storage from -40 to 70°C. The product meets CE and FCC safety requirements and complies with REACH and RoHS environmental standards.
