The Ki Pro Ultra 12G is a rackable half-width 2RU recorder and player designed to capture high-quality 4K/UltraHD/HD video in Apple ProRes or Avid DNx formats. It supports up to four simultaneous HD channels in multi-channel mode or single-channel 4K/UltraHD recording up to 60p. The unit is aimed at production crews who need reliable, edit-ready files and robust on-set monitoring.
Key capabilities include single-cable 12G-SDI connectivity and HDMI 2.0 I/O with HDR support, multi-channel SDI inputs for 4-camera HD capture, and support for Apple ProRes 4444 XQ and Avid DNxHR codecs. The system records to AJA PAK SSD media via dual hot-swappable bays with Ki Protect to preserve file integrity in the event of media removal or power loss. It also offers genlock-free multi-channel recording using internal frame syncs.
Technically the Ki Pro Ultra 12G handles full 4K/4096×2160 and UltraHD/3840×2160 at up to 60 fps and supports 12-bit color depth and 4:4:4 capture where applicable. Supported codecs include ProRes family levels and DNxHD/DNxHR profiles, plus MXF or MOV containers. The device supports infinite record and forced rollover across PAK drives and provides timecode-accurate, edit-ready clips named per input for streamlined post workflows.
Connectivity covers 1x 12G-SDI, three additional 3G-SDI ports (quad-link available), HDMI 2.0, SFP fiber/HD-BNC options, AES/EBU DB-25, analog DB-25, LTC, RS-422 and LAN for web UI control. Embedded SDI and HDMI audio support up to 16 channels per input and the front panel includes a high-resolution TFT LCD and transport controls for local operation. Remote control is available via an embedded web server and REST API for integration into facility networks.
This recorder/player is ideal for live production, OB trucks, on-set capture, and post-production ingest where simultaneous multi-camera HD capture or single-channel 4K ProRes recording is required. It pairs effectively with Ki Pro GO for proxy H.264 workflows while preserving high-quality master files on PAK media. The unit also supports 8K quadrant playback across four synchronized units for large-format playout workflows.
