Description
The SB-16D is a 16-in/16-out Dante-enabled analog stage box designed to bring high-quality analog I/O onto Dante networks. It provides 16 XLR mic/line inputs and 16 XLR line outputs in a single floor or rack-mountable chassis. The unit integrates Class 1 HDIA mic preamps and 32-bit ADCs to preserve audio fidelity across networked systems.
Key features include redundant Dante networking, remote gain control when paired with compatible TASCAM Sonicview mixers, and per-channel SIG/OL indicators for input and output monitoring. Inputs supply +48V phantom power for condenser microphones and accept up to +32 dBu for generous headroom. Outputs offer configurable nominal and maximum levels to match a variety of downstream equipment.
Performance is driven by Class 1 HDIA microphone preamps and 32-bit analog-to-digital conversion operating up to 96 kHz sample rate. The mic inputs achieve a -128 dBu EIN specification and offer low noise and wide dynamic range. Multiple internal reference level options and robust headroom ensure reliable capture of transient and high-level signals.
Connectivity is provided via two gigabit etherCON Dante ports supporting redundant or switched modes and up to 64x channels at 48 kHz or 32x channels at 96 kHz. GPIO is available via a D-sub 25pin connector for remote triggers or logic control. The unit is fully controllable by TASCAM IO Control on macOS, Windows and iPadOS and integrates tightly with TASCAM Sonicview mixers for centralized operation.
The SB-16D is suitable for stage, theater, broadcast, and installed-sound applications where expanded analog I/O on a Dante network is required. Use multiple SB-16D units to scale large systems while maintaining consistent preamp character and AD conversion. Remote gain and mute control simplifies FOH and monitor workflows when used with Sonicview consoles.
Installation is straightforward – the chassis supports floor use or 3U rack mounting and accepts universal AC or DC power inputs. Firmware and Dante module updates maintain ongoing compatibility and stability. The build quality and attention to audio-path design ensure dependable operation in professional live and studio environments.
