Description
The CA-XLR2d-N is a compact microphone adapter that expands camera audio I/O with two balanced XLR/TRS inputs plus a stereo 3.5mm input. It connects to compatible Nikon accessory shoes and can deliver digital audio directly to the camera when used with a digital accessory shoe. This product is designed to simplify on-camera professional audio capture and reduce post production sync work.
Equipped with TASCAM HDDA mic preamps and selectable mic/line inputs, the unit provides up to 66dB of gain range and supports +48V phantom power on XLR inputs. High-performance AD conversion supports 48kHz and 96kHz sampling at 16 or 24 bit depths. A dedicated headphone output and adjustable output level allow real-time monitoring and confidence when recording live sound.
Audio performance includes a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz (+0.5dB/-1.0dB at 48kHz) and 20Hz to 40kHz (+0.5dB/-1.0dB at 96kHz). Mic amp equivalent input noise is specified at -120dBu or less (150 Ohm termination, GAIN maximum, A-weight). The adapter supports two-channel operation with line-level compatibility up to +24dBu and rated input level +4dBu.
Connectivity includes two XLR-3-31 style combo jacks, 6.3mm TRS compatibility on inputs, and a 3.5mm stereo mini input that supports plug-in power at 2.7V. The PHONE/CAMERA output is a 3.5mm stereo mini jack with fixed 0.29Vrms camera output or up to 0.5Vrms headphone output. Power can be supplied by two AA cells or via the compatible camera accessory shoe when supported.
Typical use cases include single-shotgun interviews, dual-microphone stereo capture, and feeding line-level outputs from an external mixer. The shock-mount microphone holder and top cold shoe increase mounting options and help isolate handling noise. On-camera headphone monitoring and adjustable output level let operators confirm levels and program material on location.
The CA-XLR2d-N is built to integrate into DSLR and mirrorless workflows and to be user-friendly on set. The unit offers a compact form factor at 88.2 x 119.1 x 110.0 mm and weighs approximately 341 g in the CA-XLR2d-N configuration. Its controls and cabling paths are arranged for quick setup and reliable field use.
