Description
The CA-XLR2d-AN is an analog XLR microphone adapter designed to expand microphone input options for mirrorless and DSLR cameras. It provides two balanced XLR/TRS inputs plus a 3.5mm unbalanced input and integrates a high-quality mic preamp. The unit offers camera-powered operation where supported, enabling compact on-camera audio capture.
The adapter features a high-performance HDDA mic preamplifier, selectable mic or line input, and switchable +48V phantom power on XLR inputs. It supports 16 / 24 bit quantization and 48kHz or 96kHz sampling rates synchronized to compatible camera settings. A detachable mic holder with shock mount and a top cold shoe increase mounting flexibility.
Audio performance includes a flat frequency response up to 20kHz at 48kHz sampling and up to 40kHz at 96kHz sampling with a tolerance of +0.5dB/-1.0dB. The mic preamp equivalent input noise is -120dBu or less and the dynamic range is 95dB or greater. Input gain range across inputs is 66dB and the adapter supports both microphone and line-level signals.
Connectivity includes two XLR-3/TRS combo jacks, a 3.5mm stereo mini input supporting plug-in power, and a 3.5mm camera/headphone output. Power can be supplied by two AA batteries or via a compatible camera accessory shoe that supports accessory power and digital audio transmission. The adapter is compatible with many Canon, FUJIFILM, and Nikon cameras that provide accessory shoe digital audio or analog mic input.
Common use cases include on-camera interviews using a single shotgun mic, stereo or dual-mic capture with two dynamics or condensers, and connection of line-level outputs from external mixers. The CA-XLR2d-AN supports live event capture, ENG, documentary production, and run-and-gun shoots where reliable on-camera audio is required. It eliminates the need for separate field recorders when connected digitally to compatible cameras.
Installation is straightforward using the included cold shoe adapter and battery holder when camera accessory power is not available. The mic holder and shock mount reduce handling noise while a cable holder keeps wiring tidy around the camera. The compact aluminum body and straightforward controls make setup and operation fast on set or in the field.
