Description
The V2Digital is an analog to digital video mini-converter that converts component or composite analog signals to HD or SD SDI. It performs full 10-bit conversion and applies 2x oversampling to preserve image fidelity during conversion. The unit is compact and designed to integrate analog sources into SDI-based workflows without format scaling.
Key features include support for YPbPr (SMPTE, EBU-N10), Betacam, RGB component inputs and NTSC/PAL composite or Y/C S-Video inputs. A 4-line Adaptive Comb Filter is used for high-quality composite decoding and the full 10-bit data path maintains color precision. Conversion settings can be set locally via DIP switches or remotely using AJA Mini-Config over USB.
V2Digital supports a range of HD and SD formats including 1080i, 1080PsF, 720p, 625i and 525i. It outputs HD/SD-SDI compliant with SMPTE-259/292/296M and uses a single BNC for SDI output. Note that the unit performs analog to digital conversion only and does not perform up-conversion or down-conversion between SD and HD.
Connectivity is straightforward: one BNC for HD component or RGB input, one BNC for SD component/composite/YC input and one BNC HD/SD-SDI output. Control is via external DIP switches or USB with AJA Mini-Config for status readout and firmware updates. Power is supplied via +5-20 VDC and the converter consumes approximately 3 watts.
Typical applications include converting legacy cameras, Betacam decks or composite sources to SDI for routing, monitoring or ingest. It is suitable for OB vans, broadcast racks, post facilities and EDU installations where analog sources must be integrated into an SDI signal chain. The small footprint allows it to be placed behind monitors or mounted near equipment.
Installation is simple and user friendly – the compact housing has a locking power connector and optional P-TAP battery cable support for field use. The unit is low power and built to professional AJA quality standards with firmware update support via Mini-Config. A five year warranty provides long-term confidence in deployment.
