Description
The OG-12G-AM is a 16-channel AES/EBU audio embedder and disembedder card designed for openGear frames. It accepts and outputs single-link 12G-SDI signals up to 4K/UltraHD and supports balanced AES/EBU on eight BNC pairs for up to 16 channels of audio. This card automatically detects input video standards to simplify configuration and deployment.
The card provides selectable AES/EBU embedding or disembedding on a per-channel-pair basis, allowing embedded SDI audio to be passed through or replaced by external AES/EBU sources. It supports selectable AES/EBU levels and provides an internal 1.5G-SDI signal generator so the embedder path can operate even without a live SDI source. The OG-12G-AM supports full 12G-SDI single-link formats as well as 3G-SDI Level A and Level B.
Performance details include low video latency and defined audio path latencies to support synchronous workflows. Video latency is as low as 4 microseconds for 12G and 6G signals and audio embed/disembed path latencies are specified as 1500 microseconds with SRC on or 400 microseconds with SRC off for the embed path and 210 microseconds for the disembed path. The card supports standard embedded audio formats and AES3-2003 for discrete AES/EBU sources.
Connectivity includes one 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output on BNC connectors and eight BNC AES I/O connectors providing balanced AES/EBU pair I/O selectable as input or output. Monitoring and control is via openGear DashBoard software compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, and the card fits standard openGear rear-panels for customizable I/O. The OG-12G-AM is compatible with openGear frames offering Ethernet access for frame-level management and optional per-card Ethernet where supported.
Typical use cases include broadcast facility audio replacement or augmentation, post production ingest and recording where external AES/EBU mixing is required, and OB van or mobile workflows that need embedded audio manipulation for 4K/UltraHD SDI signals. It is suitable for routing mixed AES audio back into an SDI transport for recorders, switchers, or downstream devices. The card is optimized for high-density openGear 2RU frames and multi-card workflows.
Installation is straightforward in any compatible openGear frame and the card requires two front slots and the matching rear I/O module. Power is supplied by the openGear frame power system and the card consumes up to 6 watts. The OG-12G-AM is designed for professional broadcast environments and is backed by a five year warranty for long-term deployment.
