Description

The Ki Pro Rack is a 1RU file-based recorder and player designed to capture ready-to-edit Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD files. It records 10-bit full raster video to removable KiStor modules and supports rollover recording across two media bays. This unit is built to streamline transitions from tape-based to file-based workflows while preserving broadcast image quality.

Key features include multi-format recording, hardware up/down/cross-conversion, and dual KiStor media bays with built-in Ki Protect. The Ki Pro Rack supports SDI, HDMI, component analog video, AES and balanced XLR audio, plus LTC, RS-422, and reference inputs. Front panel transport controls, an embedded web UI, and a REST interface provide local and remote control options.

Technical performance centers on 10-bit 4:2:2 capture using ProRes and DNxHD codecs to minimize storage while maintaining quality. The unit supports a wide range of formats including 1080i, 1080p, 1080PsF, 720p, 625i and 525i. Internal conversion hardware enables format unification without external converters and preserves full raster 10-bit color depth for postproduction flexibility.

Connectivity covers professional studio requirements with SDI I/O, HDMI v1.3 I/O, analog component and composite, AES/EBU on BNC, balanced XLR, Ethernet, and RS-422 machine control. The embedded web server allows configuration, clip selection and transport control via a standard browser and Ethernet file transfer for fast media moves. Closed captioning CEA-708/608 is recognized from SDI and encoded into recorded ProRes files.

The Ki Pro Rack fits rackmount environments with a compact 1RU chassis, dual redundant power supplies, and support for long-form recording via media rollover. RS-422 control enables integration with edit systems and VTRs for machine-to-machine transfers and assemble edits. The front panel status display and simple transport buttons make operation quick to learn for users familiar with tape decks.
