Description
The FIDO-R-SC is a single-channel single-mode SC fiber to 3G-SDI receiver designed to extend SDI signals over long distances while providing electrical isolation to eliminate ground loop issues. It converts a simplex SC fiber input into two matching 3G-SDI BNC outputs. The compact, low-profile housing fits behind racks, on camera rigs, or in tight spaces on mobile trucks.
The receiver supports 3G/HD/SD-SDI formats and automatically reclocks common SDI rates including 270 Mbps and 1.485 Gbps groups. Dual matching SDI outputs provide simultaneous feeds for monitoring or downstream distribution. The unit accepts 5-20VDC and ships with a universal power supply for global use.
Technically, the FIDO-R-SC handles video formats from 150 Mbps up to 3 Gbps and complies with SMPTE-297 for fiber inputs and SMPTE-259/292/424 for SDI outputs. Optical sensitivity is specified at -18 dBm and overload power at -3 dBm. Reclocking is automatic for specified rates while other rates are passed through.
Connectivity is simple and robust – a single-mode SC simplex fiber input and dual BNC 3G-SDI outputs provide straightforward integration into broadcast signal chains. Power is applied via a locking DC connector and the included universal power supply supports international plug types. The small form factor and locking power connector reduce the risk of accidental disconnects during transport or operation.
Typical applications include remote camera links, long-distance signal transport between production sites, and isolated SDI feeds where ground loops are a concern. The device is suited to OB vans, studio-to-tower runs, and any installation requiring up to 10 km fiber transmission. It supports common broadcast and production workflows without adding signal latency or complex configuration.
Installation is plug-and-play and requires no on-site configuration to operate at supported rates. The enclosure is designed for portable use and can be mounted or positioned behind equipment as needed. A five year warranty backs the unit and AJA support resources are available for integration and troubleshooting.
