Description
The FIDO-4T-ST-R0 is a compact fiber transmitter designed to convert four independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI signals to single-mode ST fiber. It enables long-distance video links up to 10 km – providing electrical isolation to help eliminate ground loop issues. This compact unit is purpose-built for broadcast environments where reliable SDI-to-fiber conversion is required.
The device supports four independent SDI inputs and four simplex ST fiber outputs, allowing individual channel routing over fiber. It handles video rates from 150 Mbps up to 3 Gbps and supports SMPTE-259/292/424 input standards and SMPTE-297 fiber output. The unit also supports transmission of 4K/UltraHD signals distributed across four fiber links.
Reclocking is provided for common SDI rates including 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps and 2.970 Gbps – with other rates passed through without reclocking. Optical characteristics include a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm, optical power range of -8 dBm to -3 dBm, and a typical extinction ratio of 9 dB. Power consumption is rated up to 5 watts maximum and the unit accepts 5-20 VDC input.
Connectivity includes four BNC 3G-SDI inputs and four ST single-mode fiber outputs, complying with SMPTE standards for SDI and fiber. The universal power supply is included for worldwide operation and the compact enclosure features a locking power connector for secure deployment. The device is compatible with standard SDI equipment used in studios, mobile trucks and field installations.
Typical use cases include point-to-point links between OB trucks and studios, camera-to-truck fiber runs on remote shoots, and long-distance signal distribution in broadcast facilities. The electrical isolation provided by fiber helps prevent ground loop noise and improves signal integrity on long runs. Multiple units can be deployed for multichannel distribution over existing fiber infrastructure.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the small, low-profile form factor that fits behind monitors, on camera rigs or in tight rack spaces. The unit operates reliably between 0 and 40 C and is rated for noncondensing relative humidity from 10 to 90 percent. A five year warranty backs the product, supporting long-term deployment in professional environments.
