Description
The FIDO-4T is a compact 4-channel 3G-SDI to single-mode LC fiber transmitter designed to extend SDI signals over long distances. It converts four independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs to single-mode fiber outputs using 1310 nm optics. The unit supports runs up to 10 km 32808 ft and provides electrical isolation to help eliminate ground loop issues.
The converter offers four independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and four LC fiber outputs that can be configured as four simplex or two duplex links. It supports 4K/UltraHD-SDI over four fiber links by carrying each SDI channel over its own fiber path. Reclocking is provided on standard SDI rates to maintain signal integrity where applicable.
Performance is format agnostic across 150 Mbps to 3 Gbps and it reclocks automatically at 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps and 2.970 Gbps when required. Optical characteristics include a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm, optical power range of -5 dBm to 0 dBm, and a typical extinction ratio of 7.5 dB. The unit draws up to 5 watts of power and accepts a 5-20 VDC supply, with a universal power supply included.
Connectivity is straightforward with four BNC 3G-SDI inputs and four single-mode LC fiber outputs compliant with SMPTE-259/292/424 and SMPTE-297 respectively. The compact low-profile enclosure fits behind monitors, in racks, on camera rigs or in OB vans and includes a locking power connector for secure connections. Standard environmental tolerances include 0 to 40 C operating temperature and 10-90% noncondensing humidity.
This transmitter is suitable for OB trucks, live event rigs, remote camera links and broadcast facility signal distribution where long fiber runs and electrical isolation are required. It can be used in multi-camera productions to carry independent SDI feeds to remote routers or recorders. The ability to pass through nonstandard rates without reclocking preserves uncommon formats when needed.
The FIDO-4T is engineered for ease of installation and reliable field operation with a rugged enclosure and simple power and I/O connections. A locking DC connector and optional P-TAP battery power options support mobile workflows. The product is backed by a five year warranty to support professional deployments and long-term installations.
