Description
The FIDO-2T is a compact 2-channel 3G-SDI to single-mode LC fiber transmitter designed to extend SDI signals over long distances. It converts dual independent SDI signals to single-mode fiber and supports runs up to 10 km with electrical isolation. This enables long cable runs while reducing ground loop risks in broadcast and OB environments.
The transmitter accepts two independent 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and provides two single-mode LC fiber outputs. Each SDI path is fully independent which preserves signal integrity for multi-camera or redundant signal workflows. The unit supports duplex LC connectivity and includes a universal 5-20VDC power supply for flexible powering options.
Video handling covers 150 Mbps up to 3 Gbps and is format agnostic to support SD/HD/3G-SDI signals. Reclocking is automatic for common SDI rates including 270 Mbps, 1.483 Gbps, 1.485 Gbps, 2.966 Gbps and 2.970 Gbps, while all other rates are passed through without reclocking. Optical performance is specified at a nominal wavelength of 1310 nm with optical power between -5 dBm and 0 dBm and a typical extinction ratio of 7.5 dB.
Connectivity includes two BNC 3G-SDI inputs and two single-mode LC fiber outputs, following SMPTE-259/292/424 for SDI and SMPTE-297 for fiber. Power is provided via the included universal power supply or an external 5-20VDC source and the locking power connector prevents accidental disconnection. The compact low-profile housing fits behind monitors, in racks, on camera rigs and in mobile trucks.
Typical applications include live production, outside broadcast, multi-camera remote feeds and venue signal distribution where long fiber runs and electrical isolation are required. The independent channel architecture makes the FIDO-2T suitable for paired camera feeds or redundant signal paths. It is also useful in scenarios where ground loop isolation is critical, such as mixed power environments and long cable paths.
Installation is straightforward and requires minimal configuration – the FIDO-2T auto-selects reclocking for standard SDI rates and passes non-standard rates through. The device is rated for 0 to 40 C operating temperature and 10-90% noncondensing humidity for reliable field use. Built with a durable enclosure and a locking power connector, the unit is designed for road use and repeated deployment.
