Description
The Quantum HD 2 is a 20 x 24 USB-C audio interface engineered for project studios and full band recording – it combines high-resolution 32-bit converters and 192 kHz operation for detailed capture. This unit provides two MAX-HD mic preamps with up to 75 dB of gain and two instrument inputs co-developed with Fender, making it ready for modern microphone and instrument setups. An included perpetual Studio One Pro license supplies a complete DAW environment for production and tracking.
Key features include redesigned MAX-HD mic preamps, Auto Gain, re-amp outputs, and a front-panel illuminated encoder for precise control. The MAX-HD preamps are digitally-controlled analog designs that prioritize low noise and transparency while offering wide gain range. The Auto Gain function helps set recording levels quickly and consistently for microphones and instruments.
Performance highlights include 32-bit audio, support for sample rates up to 192 kHz, and superior dynamic range across inputs and outputs. Microphone preamps deliver a 116 dB dynamic range and an equivalent input noise down to -130 dBu at maximum gain. Line and instrument paths maintain high dynamic range and low total harmonic distortion measurements for clean captures.
Connectivity covers USB-C host connection, ADAT optical I/O for expanding channel counts, S/PDIF coaxial I/O, balanced 1/4″ TRS line outputs, and a 1/4″ TRS headphone output. Phantom power at +48 V is available for condenser microphones and two re-amp outputs allow you to send DAW tracks back to guitar or bass amps for re-recording. The interface is compatible with macOS and Windows via low-latency drivers and includes a universal control app for remote metering and routing.
The Quantum HD 2 fits studio recording, tracking sessions, and instrument-centric workflows where accurate capture and flexibility matter. Guitarists and bassists benefit from Fender co-developed instrument inputs and re-amping capability, while vocal and acoustic recordings profit from the low-noise MAX-HD preamps. Its channel count and ADAT expandability make it suitable for overdubbing bands or capturing multi-mic setups.
Setup and daily operation are simplified by the illuminated push encoder for gain and monitor control, included USB-C cable, DB-9 breakout for expandability, and an external 12 VDC, 2 A power supply. The rugged aluminum chassis and desktop footprint make it convenient for both desktop studios and mobile rigs. Regular firmware updates and the bundled software license extend both functionality and long-term value.
